I just went to the worst ball game ever. First and foremost it was 94+ degrees and our seats were in the outfield, right next to the big yellow foul line marker. They were never going to be in the shade. I stayed in the seats as long as I could stand it, but only lasted a couple of innings. It was just too uncomfortable. Mr. Pubby managed to stay until the 6-7 inning, but was so disgusted by the the rotten playing of the Phils that he left his seats too. Secondly, the Phillies were playing horribly against the Red Sox. It was some of the worst baseball I've ever seen. The only good things were the people I was with. No one got grumpy, we all had hoagies and kept hydrated. And I finally got a Phillies t-shirt (Abreu, fyi. I don't trust that Chase Utley.), it was a gift from Mr. Pubby .
To add insult to injury, when we got home we discovered that the sunscreen combined with the high heat stained our white shirts irreparably, after we had been so smart to put sunscreen under our shirts to have full protection. Argh, RIP my nice white preppy polo shirt.
Hey, it was also a history making game... it was the 10,000th franchise loss for the Phils. Sigh.

ReplyDeleteBefore we got to our seats, Greg and I grabbed a handful of All-Star ballots. While I sat watching a sorry excuse of a baseball game, I was punching out our ballots.
Twenty-six punched ballots later, I finally had to give up on the Fightin' Phils.
The one shining moment was that we did get free Phillies hats, high quality ones at that, after the game was over from Mel's company.
